Team Brunel ready for Volvo Ocean Race start

Team Brunel ready for Volvo Ocean Race start Jarno Schurgers / Team Brunel
Team Brunel starts on Sunday afternoon with the other six participating boats in the Volvo Ocean Race. Dutch skipper Bouwe Bekking and his team are ready.

Bekking: 'Let the race start. It will be a relatively short but intensive leg from Alicante to Lisbon. '

Focus
Bekking: 'We had a good short preparation. Everyone is focused and eager to get started. We have had a few good days here in Alicante with many partners and suppliers. As a team we know what to do. But the race won’t be decided in this first leg. '

It will be exciting until Lisbon
Many of the participating teams have trained in Lisbon in recent weeks, including Team Brunel. Bekking: 'If you finish early in the morning in Lisbon, there’s no wind. If the current is against you, it will be as well. The guy who’s first will see the boats slowly but surely coming from behind and it will be most likely a restart. If it’s a day finish I think the boat which is ahead, we’ll stay in that position. But from around 2 o’clock at night time until 11/12 o’clock during the day it might be a very tricky finish.”
