Navico, parent company to the Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G brands — announced today its new Map Creator software that allows cartography enthusiasts to make their own maps. Available for free download from the Insight Store, Map Creator offers users the unprecedented ability to make their own unencrypted, .AT5-formatted, chartplotter-capable cartography from personal or publicly available mapping data for use on Lowrance Elite-7 HDI, Elite-5 HDI, HDS Gen 2 and Gen2 Touch, Simrad NSS and B&G Zeus Touch multifunction displays.

'Our free Map Creator software adds a valuable, customizable tool for our Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B&G customers and cartography enthusiasts,' said Leif Ottosson, CEO, Navico. 'Not only do we offer compatibility with the most charting solutions, we continue to add meaningful, user-friendly tools to meet the needs of our customers for all of their outdoor and on-the-water adventures.'

Providing users the ability to quickly and easily convert paper charts or OpenStreetMap data into .AT5 format, Map Creator will also generate vector maps from bathymetric data to create custom contours maps. Using a PC with Microsoft Windows 8, 7, Vista or XP SP3 operating systems, customers can add markers or Points of Interest, and save the chart onto an SD or MicroSD card for use on a compatible Lowrance, Simrad Yachting or B&G multifunction display.

Map Creator software can be downloaded for free from the Insight Store. For more information on Navico Map Creator, compatible displays, or the complete line of Lowrance, Simrad Yachting or B&G marine electronics, please visit Lowrance, Simrad Yachting and B and G.
