ICSA Promotional Women’s Collegiate Match Race and Clinic

The ICSA Promotional Women’s Collegiate Match Race and Clinic was held January 17-19 at Rollins College in Winter Park FL.

The match Racing Clinic was conducted on Saturday by North U and included match racing spinnaker training. The double round robin racing was on Sunday followed by the Finals on Monday. The event was won by the Connecticut College Women’s Match Racing Team of skipper Maggie Shea, crew Sarah Shear and crew Kelly Arabia.

The event was promoted as a women’s match race with spinnakers in all races. The actual event was run as an open event with women skippers receiving both open and women’s ISAF match racing points and the Rollins men’s team receiving only open match racing points. The winds were 5 to 10 mph in the Sunday races and 10 to 15 mph in the Monday races.

Special thanks to chief umpire Judy Hanlon and umpire Eric Robbins. Thanks also to Edgewater Boat Company for supplying the WIMRA Umpire boat, Torqeedo of Germany for supplying their electric outboard motor for a proof of concept umpire boat, and Rollins College for the use of the boathouse facilities.

The ICSA Promotional Women's Collegiate Match Racing event at Rollins College was a very successful event and the participants, umpires and race organizers are all looking forward to next year's event.
