2008 Hobart fleet head towards 110

95 Applications for entry for the 2008 Rolex Sydney to Hobart race, so far with more coming in. The absolute deadline is 5pm on Monday 3rd of November and as Cruising Yacht Club of Australia sailing manager Justine Kirkjian reminds sailors, the application deadline will NOT be extended.

With 95, 13 more than last year’s 82 starters, the CYCA is expecting the usual late rush of paperwork on Monday and the numbers could approach 110.

'Interest in this year’s race is strong and indications are it will be one of the largest fleets in a decade,' said CYCA Commodore Matt Allen.

Applications have been received from around the world, Germany, GBR, Netherlands, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Russia, Switzerland,

All six Australian states and the ACT are represented in the list of applications for entry.

Since the 1998 Sydney Hobart the average fleet size has been 78.8 with a peak of 116 starters in 2004 for the 60th anniversary Rolex Sydney Hobart.

Applications for entry for the 64th edition of the Rolex Sydney Hobart close on Monday 3 November 2008 at 1700hrs at Rushcutters Bay.

Here is application for entry list up to mid afternoon on Friday October 31st, there were more later which have not yet been collated.
