Bayview Mackinac Race - Windquest first to cross finish

Doug and Dick DeVos' 86-foot yacht Windquest,out of Macatawa Bay Yacht Club is the first boat to finish the annual yacht race from Port Huron to Mackinac Island, just as she was in the 2011 Chicago Mackinac race.
The 200 + boats in the Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race 2012, organized by Bayview Yacht Club, got underway on Saturday 14th July from just north of the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron with light winds under blues skies.
Windquest crossed the finish line at 5:31 p.m. Sunday however Detroit sailor Phil O'Niel's TP52 Natalie J, which finished at 8:45 p.m., is the current handicap leader.
The Australian Sydney to Hobart racer Margaret Rintoul IV, now owned by Andrew Kiteley, was leading the PHRF B class on the Cove Island Course.
Bernida, which was the winner of the first Mackinac race in 1925, was well placed on handicap winner on the Shore Course.
