U.S. Olympic Sailing Team announced

The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) today announced the members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. Among the 530 athletes will be 16 American sailors competing in 10 Olymipic sailing events.

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team is comprised of seven women and nine men. Seven of the athletes are returning Olympians, including 2008 Olympic gold medalist Anna Tunnicliffe and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Zach Railey.

Railey was selected Team Captain by his team mates.

470 (Men’s Two Person Dinghy) – 2008 Olympians Stu McNay (Boston, Mass.) and Graham Biehl (San Diego, Calif.)

470 (Women’s Two Person Dinghy) – 2008 Olympian Amanda Clark (Shelter Island, N.Y.), and Sarah Lihan (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)

Elliott 6m (women’s match racing) – 2008 Olympic gold medalist Anna Tunnicliffe (Plantation, Fla.); Molly Vandemoer (Stanford, Calif.); and 2008 Olympian Debbie Capozzi (Bayport, N.Y.)

Finn (Men’s One Person Dinghy Heavy) – 2008 Olympic silver medalist Zach Railey (Clearwater, Fla.)

Laser (Men’s One Person Dinghy) – Rob Crane (Darien, Conn.)Laser Radial (Women’s One Person Dinghy) – Paige Railey (Clearwater, Fla.)

RS:X (Men’s Windsurfer) – Bob Willis (Chicago, Ill.)

RS:X (Women’s Windsurfer) – Farrah Hall (Annapolis, Md.)

Star (Men’s Keelboat) – 2004 Olympian Mark Mendelblatt and Brian Fatih (both Miami, Fla.)

The 2012 Olympic Games will be held July 29 – August 12, with the Olympic Sailing Regatta hosted in Weymouth and Portland, U.K., approximately 120 miles south of London.
