The Optiorange 2026 begins a new adventure. In its eighth edition, the Real Club Náutico de Valencia has managed to bring together 412 sailors from 30 countries. The event will start this Thursday, 26th February, and will conclude next Sunday, 1st March.

Four intense days are planned, with a total of 12 events to be contested. The competition will begin with the qualifying round, scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with three events per day. These initial days will determine the position of the participants and set the stage for the decisive phase, with the respective groups, among which the Gold group will stand out, provided that four events can be completed in the qualifying round. On Saturday and Sunday, the final series will take place, also with three races per day, in which the final results will be determined and the winners announced.

València is consolidating its position as a high-level international venue in the world of sailing, bringing together sailors from 30 different countries in its waters. Among the most numerous participants are the United States with 39 representatives, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom with 26 each, Turkey with 25, France with 18, Sweden with 17 and Canada with 16. Norway and Germany are each contributing 11 sailors, completing a diverse and competitive group.

The global reach of the event is reflected in the presence of competitors from places as far afield as the Virgin Islands, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Peru and Hong Kong, demonstrating Valencia's ability to attract talent from every continent. In addition, athletes from Monaco, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia, Finland and Estonia are participating, consolidating the international character of the competition.

The event not only highlights the high technical level of the sailors, but also the importance of Valencia as a meeting point for world sailing.

The diversity of participants and the volume of sailors make this event a platform for the exchange of experiences and knowledge between countries, reinforcing Valencia's prestige in the international sailing calendar.

Spain has 166 sailors from various autonomous communities such as Catalonia, the Basque Country, the Region of Murcia, Andalusia, Cantabria and the Valencian Community, offering broad national representation. This diversity reflects the solid level of Spanish sailing and the importance of the event for the training and promotion of young talent.

The competition, organised by the Real Club Náutico de València, is the fifth and final round of the Optimist Excellence Cup, an international circuit run by the AECIO (Spanish International Optimist Class Association). Next Sunday, the new champion will be crowned, putting the finishing touch to an event that combines sporting excellence, international exchange and visibility for emerging sailors.

The event not only highlights the high technical level of the participants, but also the importance of Valencia as a meeting point for world sailing, consolidating its position on the international calendar and offering an ideal setting for competition and the exchange of experiences between countries.
