The Sailors with Disabilities vessel KAZ, is ahead of the around Australia record, after leaving Sydney at 13:40:19 Sunday afternoon on her second start in her Australian circumnavigation attempt.
KAZ, formerly Aspect Computing returned to Sydney after her first start with rudder bearing damage.
As skipper David Pescud explained 'The problem was not major, its just that a leaking bearing seal and pumping for 44 day would not have helped our record chances.'
At 5 am this Monday morning, KAZ was 33 nm ENE of Sugerloaf Point, 120 miles north of Sydney. As expected she is heading offshore outside the southern flowing current.
However offshore conditions remain difficult and she has managed only 10 knots in the last two hours.
