Environment- Act now to stop deep sea drilling off New Zealand's coast

by Greenpeace on 18 Jun 2012
Deep sea drilling threatens NZ’s pristine coatsal areas SW
Greenpeace needs you to act now to stop deep sea oil drilling in NZ waters but first, let's take a moment to celebrate ...

We have reached 150,000 names on our petition against offshore oil drilling. That is roughly the per-capita equivalent of 20 million north Americans - an AMAZING result!

We will deliver it to the Beehive soon but in the meantime, the Government has opened an official public consultation process to ask New Zealanders what should and shouldn't be allowed in our coastal waters - including deep sea oil drilling and seabed mining.

This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate opposition to deep sea oil drilling and we must make the most of it.

We’ve set up a quickfire submission form for you to easily get across that you - and 150,000 other Kiwis - think there should be no deep sea oil drilling in New Zealand’s coastal waters due to the risk of catastrophic oil spills, and that all such activities should be banned.

Click here to tell the Government that no amount of legislation or regulation can keep us safe from the risk of a massive oil spill:

www.greenpeace.org.nz/no-deep-sea-oil/

Thank you for your support,

Nick and the whole crew at Greenpeace NZ

Please donate now to help Greenpeace continue defending our marine environment from deep sea oil - our work is completely funded by people like you.
