The Gold Coast's Sanctuary Cove has been awarded Australia's first Five Gold Anchor residential canal estate accreditation by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) - only the second such award internationally.
Presenting the award this morning at the media launch on the opening day of the 24th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Colin Bransgrove, MIAA executive officer, said the accreditation was testament to Sanctuary Cove's considered master plan and the lifestyle on offer at the waterfront community.
'The accreditation considers the residential community as a whole with a focus on the boating lifestyle available to residents,' said Bransgrove.
Accreditation was based on a range of more than 80 criteria, including access to facilities, environmental health, policies and procedures, presentation, and proximity to local attractions. Sanctuary Cove Marina scored 94%, which is considered exceptional.
Achieving Five Gold Anchors puts Sanctuary Cove, a 300-berth marina, in company with Singapore's Sentosa Cove, the only other residential canal estate in the world to have received the rating.
Sanctuary Cove Marina operations manager, Helen Motteram-Smith said the prestigious accreditation was a welcome achievement in the long list for Sanctuary Cove.
'The Gold Anchor accreditation is significant in that it puts Sanctuary Cove on the global map as the ultimate boating lifestyle destination.'
