New App turns your tablet into a Multi-function Display unit

by Sail-World Cruising on 14 May 2012
Raymarine Ray Control App SW
Raymarine has been working away in the back room to bring you their latest App, which can convert your tablet into a full function Raymarine Multi-function Display unit (MFD)!

You will not be able to commission or decommission your autopilot, but RayControl will allow you to remotely control and view electronic charting, sonar, radar, and even thermal night vision, right from your tablet.

The RayControl app emulates Raymarine MFD’s with touch screen interaction and a virtual slide out MFD keyboard. The slide out virtual keyboard gives you control of all MFD functions and the virtual uni-controller allows you rotate through menus and adjustments effortlessly.

Available for both iOS and Android platforms, the new RayRemote and RayControl apps put you in full command ofRaymarine’s new c?Series and e?Series multifunction navigation displays (see below about upgrade).

The new RayControl app transforms tablets, like the Apple iPad into a full function Raymarine MFD repeater with seamless touch screen interaction between the tablet and MFD.

RayControl also provides a virtual slide out keypad that emulates the actual keypad of Raymarine c?Series and e?Series MFDs, giving you the freedom to interact with your Raymarine navigation system from anywhere on board.

The new RayRemote app is optimized for smart phone displays and offers full screen viewing and remote control. RayRemote lets boaters switch between a full screen repeater display and a full screen virtual keypad with just a tap of the display.

The virtual remote keypad emulates all MFD controls, including cursor and rotary controls, allowing you to navigate features, rotate through menus, and make adjustments effortlessly.

Recommended Requirements:
iOS Devices = Best performance achieved on iPad 2 and better
Android/Kindle Fire = Best performance achieved with 1GHz processor and better and running 2.2.2. or better

Raymarine do not recommend using RayControl on a Smartphone. Touch items on the MFD interface are too small for reliable and accurate operation when displayed on the relatively small phone screen.

To use this app please upgrade your Raymarine c-Series or e-Series multifunction display to software version 3.15 or higher. The c-Series and e-Series v 3.15 software upgrade is available for free by going to the Raymarine website.
