NSW Tasar Championships day 2 - one for the ladies

by Nic Douglass on 8 Apr 2012
Racing at previous NSW State Tasar Championship Ron Simpson
There are two female helms in the top three after day two at the 35th NSW Tasar State Championships.

Three races were sailed yesterday in a great sou'easterly breeze of twelve to eighteen knots. There were some big changes in the top ten, testament to the tight racing enjoyed by all.

Heather MacFarlane and Chris Payne on 2883 lead from start to finish in heat four. Nic Douglass skippering for Rob Douglass lead most of heat five, with Heather and Chris finishing just behind.

Paul and Bronwyn Ridgway on 2871, maintained their regatta lead after day two, taking heat six. Heather MacFarlane and Chris Payne have moved up to second, with Nic Douglass and Rob Douglass jumping up to third. Pete Ellis and Charlotte Birbeck are in fourth, and Graham Baxendale and Darryl Bentley are in fifth. The points between third and ninth are incredibly tight.

Racing will conclude today, and with three races remaining in the series, and a potential second drop to come into play the top ten have a big day ahead.

A big thanks to the Illawarra Yacht Club for their fantastic hospitality and race management, and also to our sponsors, Bethwaite Design, Zhik, Good Gear, Maxy Boats and Deanna Harken (massage).
