Mooloolaba's Easter Regatta - Turn left at the lighthouse

by Tracey Johnstone on 30 Mar 2012
Easter Friday’s race start will be just off Wynnum Manly Yacht Club at 9am. Tracey Johnstone
Looking for a change from racing to Gladstone, but still want to shake out the cobwebs with an Easter weekend of sailing and parties ? Then head north, but when you see the lighthouse, hang a left and join the fun with Mooloolaba Yacht Club's Easter Regatta.

The regatta starts with the Good Friday Jim Craddock Memorial race from Manly to Mooloolaba. The fleet of Mooloolaba and Brisbane multihulls, monohulls and sports boats will be on the Manly Wynnum Yacht Club start line by 9am.

They then dodge the Moreton Bay markers and pass the Gladstone Race fleet for a quick ride up the picturesque coast, take a left at Point Cartwright, finish at Mooloolaba and then hoe into a seriously warm welcome from the Mooloolaba Yacht Club members.

Saturday will see a series of windward/leewards races on Mooloolaba Bay for all the fleet. Back at The Wharf Tavern with the competing safely tied up outside, the sailors will again get to practice their partying skills.

It will be an early start on Sunday morning for the Brisbane fleet as they start at 9am on the race back to Brisbane.

The Mooloolaba boats will join the Brisbane fleet as far as Caloundra before peeling off to head back north in the Brian Anstee Memorial Race and towards their finish off Mooloolaba.
