Force 10 Sails becomes Ullman Sails Mid-Chesapeake

by Kelly Buchan on 16 Feb 2012
Matt Simington was awarded the #1 Best Sailmaker on the Eastern Shore for 2011 Matt Simington
We are pleased to announce the latest addition to the Ullman Sails North American team – Matt Simington, owner of Force 10 Sails in Easton, Maryland, joins our international group of sailmakers as Ullman Sails Mid-Chesapeake!

Along with Ullman Skelley Sails in Havre de Grace and Ullman Sails Virginia in Deltaville, Matt and his team will be part of a coordinated effort to provide better customer service to the Chesapeake region. Matt has owned and operated his own sailmaking facility, Force 10 Sails, for five years.

His full service loft will offer the complete range of Ullman Sails products, including FiberPath technology, proven world-class one design sails and our complete range of custom racing and cruising sails. In addition, the loft is equipped to provide sail repair and service for boats up to 80ft, canvas and rigging services, and sail washing.

Matt has been involved in every facet of the sport of sailing with a wide range of experience in sailmaking. He has owned and operated his own sail loft for five years, working as a sailmaker, designer, and rigger. His team has specialized in the design and development on various styles of boats, ranging from one design classes up to 90ft cruising vessels that travel around the world.

Matt has built sails for many one design classes, including the Farr 40, Melges 24, J/24 and Optimist. On the racecourse, his sails have won many titles throughout the U.S. And last year Force 10 Sails was chosen Number One of the Best of Maryland’s Eastern Shore Sailmakers for 2011!

Matt comments on why he decided to join the Ullman Sails International Group:

'I have been developing and building sails now for 14 years working for my own company as well as managing the floor for other major lofts. By joining the Ullman Sails group, I can work with a dynamic and experienced group of designers, sailmakers and sailors who work together at the forefront of our profession. I am excited to be part of this collaborative effort and with three Ullman lofts now servicing the Chesapeake we will all be working together to provide better customer service than the competition!'

On the water, Matt and his team have cruised and raced all along the United States’ East Coast, the Great Lakes, and have competed in many of the offshore distance races such as Bermuda races. He has been active for years as both a skipper and sailing instructor on yachts up to 65 feet. With accolades in business and winning sails on the water, the Ullman Sails Mid-Chesapeake will be a strong addition to the Ullman Sails family.
