Solo Nationals Championships 2011 are being held at South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club, Abersoch from 17th to 22nd July.

Champagne sailing conditions today!

Lighter winds for the first race, around a steady F2 in glorious sunshine, brought not only welcome relief to some of the fleet but also gave the normal finishing positions a shake up.

Stuart Bush won the first race after a tight battle with Vince Horey who took second, and Matt Howard taking third.

Race two started by possibly the fleets first ever lady pathfinder, Vanda Jowett, the sea breeze kicked in and built to a good F4. With the tide also starting to flow there were a few more casualties at the windward mark, however the stronger breeze brought the normal runners and riders to the front, with Matt Howard taking the bullet and Charlie Cumbley in second, these two taking a considerable lead over the chasing pack.

With the wind still building the fleet enjoyed a third race, a glorious planing reach all the way to the beach to finish the day on a high.

The Baseball Caps kindly donated by the Abersoch Boatyard, have been distributed to the entrants registered as juniors today, and were gratefully received.

Overall top ten positions are as follows: (After six races with one discard)
1st Charlie Cumbley
2nd Matt Howard

A look at The Ocean Cleanup and its the 30 Cities Program The cliche goes that one should avoid meeting one's heroes, as there's always a chance that the flesh-and-blood person might not live up to expectations. While I've never met Boyan Slat, I'd gladly take this risk.
