Sustainable Marina Development book, John Hogan and Lyndall De Marco

by AIMEX on 19 Jun 2011
John Hogan, managing director of Superior Jetties. SW
A book is being launched on June 20 at the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) Marinas 2011 conference in Melbourne, on the topic of sustainable marinas.

The book is the first of its kind to promote sustainability principles specifically to developers, owners and stakeholders of marina developments and will be launched by Alistair Murray, CEO of Ronstan, Victoria’s Exporter of the Year, and Chairman of the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX).

The authors are both well known in their field - John Hogan is the CEO of Superior Jetties, an international marina supplier and gold sponsor of the MIAA; and Lyndall De Marco, an adjunct Professor at Griffith University and former Executive Director of the International Tourism Partnership, founded by HRH The Prince of Wales.

The book presents opportunities for sustainability to be woven into the early planning stages of marina projects. Shoreline protection is a central feature of the book with sustainable development examples providing a mix of economic, social, environmental and destination outcomes.

One of the case studies in the book is Empire Marina’s Bobbin Head development which is an outstanding example of the enhancement and expansion of a successful marina within a National Park. With further tips on design and planning these examples are intended to inspire and provide early project impetus for creative thinking in the development of marinas environments.

The book will retail for A$49.95 and it will be available at the conference and afterwards online at www.superiorjetties.com
