Bel Air Panwa Taser Series, Phuket

PYC Belair Panwa Tasar Series - dinghy sailing is alive and well in Phuket Phuket Yacht Club
The Bel Air Panwa Tasar series ended last Sunday in Ao Yon Bay with some extremely close racing and enough breeze to see the final three races completed. This meant that a total of nine races were sailed, allowing competitors to drop their two worst scores. Although the day began with a flat calm and rain, the skies cleared and the breeze came up to get things underway.
In third place overall was Dragonfly (Liam Kealy), second was Seakitt Casschris (Muzza Nordstrand) and series winner was Slipstream (Andrew de Bruin). Throughout the series we’ve had some very close racing and it’s very easy to go from hero to zero in this one design fleet. That also means that there are good chances to leap the placings in the other direction too!
A very big thanks must go to the Bel Air Panwa Resort for their sponsorship, and it has been great to see loads of newcomers to dinghy sailing getting out and enjoying these performance dinghies. The Race Officers and owner of the Committee Boat must also receive a huge vote of thanks. With boats being readied for the next series, we’re hoping to see eight boats on the start line for a possible Thai Nationals weekend very soon.
There are competitive boats available for interested parties. For people wishing to buy or just come along and sail, please contact Andrew de Bruin (andrew@leemarine.net) for all the latest information.
