Platu 25 Alpen Cup Act 1 victory to Superbusi

by Sabrina Bonaiti on 1 May 2011
DSC 0067rid - Plat 25 Alpen Cup in Mlcesine - first day Jacopo Bellomo
Platu 25 Alpen Cup Act 1 and after three very competitive races, the Swiss team 'Superbüsi' is leading the provisional ranking list in Malcesine, Lake of Garda, where Act 1 of the fifth edition of the Platu 25 Alpen Cup is taking place, coinciding with the first Act of the Platu 25 Italian Circuit (29 April - 1st May).

Yesterday, rainy weather without wind didn’t allow the crews to race however, today in the morning hours, a generous wind from the north (22 knots in the first race), permitted that three perfect races could be competed.

Twenty-one crews arrived from Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany, as in the Platu 25 Alpen Cup Tradition. Today, they have been compensated by a windy and sunny day, and were able to start at 8.30 with competition finishing up at 11.30.

The second place went to the German boat B25, helmed by Felix Dorn, followed by the Italian 'Lunatica' helmed by Andrea De Santis, a very talented Italian team who recently won the Winter Championship on Lake Como.

Another Italian team, 'Grande Evento' helmed by Luigi Ciaravino, obtained the fourth Platu 25 position, followed by one of the favourites, the Austrian 'La Burra' helmed by Thomas Laherstorfer who won last year's Alpen Cup. He arrived fifth but with an OCS in the second race.

Things will likely change tomorrow with the first discard in the ranking list and not just for them but also for 'Fiordiluna' helmed by Maurizio Galanti, 'Sail Brain-Pirillina' helmed by Claudio Fasoli, and two other favourite Italian teams.

'3 Fight for fighting' helmed by the strong Alberto La Tegola who won the Platu 25 Winter Championship in Puglia, and 'Nanuk' helmed by Luigi Ravioli who is the Italian Champion and who also recently won the Primo Cup in Monaco. All of them, indeed, obtained an OCS and tomorrow, with the first discard, they will surely gain more positions.

Also, tomorrow the 21 crews will start again at 8.30. Three races are scheduled and an exciting challenge between 'Superbüsi', 'La Burra' and Italian crews is to be expected.
