MAT 1010 by Mark Mills

M.A.T. Yachts is proud to announce the launch of the M.A.T 1010. This model will is the fruition of the experience and expertise of both her designer Mark Mills and M.A.T. Yachts as a team.

The target set for M.A.T. 1010 can be summarized as a successful combination of the design of a racing boat with the highest potential of success in the IRC system, with comfortable and sublime interior arrangements, ergonomic deck plan, and elegant lines to be adored for years to come. In order to achieve this target, the modern technology and materials to be utilized in both the design and the production will be state of the art in the manufacture of performance boats.

Six Boats have been sold and the first two hulls are on their way now in March 2011 to England where they will be campaigned by Peter Morton of Boat Sales International based located at Hamble PT Marina.

The 1010 represents the very latest thinking from Mill’s after the recent success of the Summit 35, which was awarded Sailing Worlds IRC Yacht of The Year 2010. The 1010 takes this successful design to the next step with a builder that has and continues to deliver a high class product.

The M.A.T 1010 will sell in Australia at an introductory price of A$243,500.00, excluding instruments, sails and safety equipment.

Like the M.A.T 12 the 1010 is built from vacuumed infused Vinylester, eglass and foam sandwich, and comes with a proper Cruiser / Racer interior with the comfort and volume of a much larger yacht.

Family yachting teams will lover this new design as it truly re-captures the essence of what a Cruiser / Racer should be.

The MAT 1010 and MAT 12 are being promoted in Australia by Platinum Yachts located in Newport Sydney. The team at Platinum have over 30 yrs experience in the project management and sales of competitive racing yachts, with a list of racing successes over the past 20 yrs unmatched by any other dealer. Platinum’s specialises in the improvement of IRC orientated performance yachts and has consulted on improvements and modifications to a number of Australia’s highest profile yachts.

MAT 12 Mills 41 IRC Cruiser/Racer

Mark Mills is currently the most successful designer of IRC race yachts in the world. Mill’s designs accounted for three out of six yachts in the top two teams at the 2010 Commodores Cup in England. Mill’s and MAT Yachts got together utilising the earlier design 'Tiamat 40' as the base for a production IRC 41 CR. While the design is similar in length to that of the Summit 40 and others it is significantly lighter and more powerful than Mill’s other designs of similar size. The hull is more tuned to mixed offshore racing with the ability to early surf and plane when conditions allow.

Mill’s suggests that the MAT 12 design would be more suited to Regattas like Hamilton Isl than his other 40 foot designs that are more directed at light to moderate air windward – leeward courses.

MAT is an experienced builder who moved to the infusion process many years before other production yacht builders.

Today MAT builds the 12 and 1010 using eglass, foam core and vinylester resin which is infused and vacuumed at one atmosphere to consolidate the laminate in a similar process to that used by the grand prix builders such as McConaghy’s and Cookson’s.

The finish is superb and MAT’s attention to detail is first class. The yards reputation as a top production builder in Europe where they have been building since 1993 is also well established. There are no compromises made on quality and this is demonstrated by the use of only the best materials and equipment, with suppliers like Harken for all deck gear and winches, and Hall Spars for the Carbon mast. The yacht comes ready to fit instruments, sails and safety at around A$400,000.00 which represents unbeatable value for an IRC Cruiser Racer of this specification.

The MAT 12 and MAT 1010 are being promoted in Australia by Platinum Yachts located in Newport Sydney. The team at Platinum have over 30 yrs experience in the project management and sales of competitive racing yachts, with a list of racing successes over the past 20 yrs unmatched by any other dealer. Kernan ES44 IRC Racer by Tim Keranan USA

The Kernan 44 is a new generation IRC production cruiser racer. This design is aimed at the sailor looking for something fast and exciting to sail, at a sensible budget. Results achieved by the prototype indicate that this design will be very competitive in any IRC fleet. Results show that this yacht is extremely fast for its size with upwind targets in the 8 - 8.3 knot range. Off wind this yacht will plane in over 16.5 Kts of wind making it very suited to passage races like Hobart and Southport.

With a righting moment of 140 deg of positive stability the Kernan 44 is safe and easy to sail and will perform alongside many 50 plus footers in mixed fleets.

The standard package includes carbon mast and twin carbon wheels. Construction is eglass and carbon over foam all consolidated under vacuum, much like a full grand prix racer.

Deck gear is by Harken and the yacht comes standard with a main pedestal to enable fast and efficient head sail and spinnaker trim. The yacht is sailed by a crew of 12, though is easily handled by 5-6 for twilight and casual racing.

The manufacturer is ES Yachts of Annapolis USA, a company with 30 yrs experience in the manufacture of production yachts in the USA.

The designers Kernan and Courouble have refined the design since the launch of 'Wasabi' the prototype, for the series production with changes in DSPL, draft and sail area that will make this design even more competitive under IRC. Subsequent yachts will also benefit from a series date of 2009 which will ensure the lowest possible hull factor under the IRC rule.

The Kernan ES 44 is being promoted in Australia by Platinum Yachts located in Newport Sydney. www.kernandesign.com Contact Platinum Yachts for more information
