Product of the Week- New 'tight-space' automatic bilge pump

by Home Port/Sail-World Cruising on 4 Apr 2011
Bilge pump ideal for tight spaces SW
It's not the most romantic aspect of a sailor's life, but you don't want to find out that your boat is sinking by putting your feet out of the bunk into water in the morning.

Here's a new product by an Irish company that will fit into the most confined of spaces and give you peace of mind about your engine room.

The New Whale Supersub Smart 1100 high capacity, low profile automatic bilge pump features a narrow design that's ideal for tight spaces.

The multi-position outlet port can be rotated either vertical or horizontal, allowing for installation in both low-clearance and narrow bilge compartments.

An integrated sensor switch automatically senses water in the bilge and activates the pump when required. The pump draws down to 3/8' while an integrated non-return valve prevents water from back-flowing into the bilge.

The pump also has a unique, easy to clean strainer and the motor housing can be removed without tools for easy maintenance.

So here are the benefits of this new product from Whale:
• Quick and easy installation – multi position pump head and body
• Unaffected by wave motion
• Solid state switching - no moving parts
• Environmentally friendly - mercury free
• Integrated bleed ball prevents airlocks
• Electric field sensor technology
• Easy to clean
• Non-return valve included
