Australia Day Race to Botany Bay images by Wai Lee

Eerie heavy sea fog 15 minutes after the start of Wednesday’s Australia Day Race to Botany Bay - Australia Day Race to Botany Bay - City of Sydney Cup, 26 January 2011 Wai Lee
Wai Lee has sent this gallery of images from The Australia Day Race to Botany Bay.

'I was one of the crew on the Sydney 38 Next in Sunday’s Australia Day Race to Botany Bay and took these photos. It was quite an incredible experience just trying to get out of Sydney Heads in the heavy fog.

While other yachts enjoyed a fabulous 175th Australia Day Regatta in Sydney Harbour, light fickle winds tested skills and patience of the offshore fleet to Botany Bay and back. The fog finally lifted and a light nor'easter kicked in in the afternoon, taking the fleet on a reaching leg home.

The event, hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, also incorporated the Grant Thornton Short Ocean Pointscore and Short Haul Pointscore races. '
