Argentario Sailing Week 2025 at Yacht Club Santo Stefano - Day 2

18-25 June 2025
Peter Isler (SPARTAN), Mark Faulkner (LEONORE), Roberto Lacorte (LULUNIKKA) Ariella Cattai (CRIVIZZA), Inigo Strez (HALLOWE'EN) and Rafael Pereira Aragón (MATRERO) continue to charge ahead in the overall rankings.
The weather kept its promise for a beautiful Day 2 of the 24th Argentario Sailing Week, organised by the Yacht Club Santo Stefano with the support of the Municipality of Monte Argentario. The docks were alive with the tanned smiles and hearty laughter of crews continuing to enjoy the best of sailing. Even the results appear less important when compared to the racing itself and the emotions of having taken part in something truly special: a day where stunning yachts, wind and sea come together in perfect harmony. The race report provides an eyewitness account of just how ideal those conditions were following spot-on weather forecasts: regular wind from 270 degrees at 12 knots at the start, progressively strengthening to 18 knots. Calm water, clear skies, full sun: the best combination for all racecourses, each tailored to the characteristics of the individual classes to maximise their performance.
With an enthusiasm that not even decades of world-level sailing could ever dull, two unmistakable faces, those of Peter Isler and Mauro Pelaschier, shared the racecourse today alongside their respective crews. While opinions may differ when it comes to tactical decisions, when asked about the organisation and unique atmosphere of Argentario Sailing Week, the consensus is unanimous.
For Peter Isler, the Argentario continues to live up to its reputation as the ideal stage for celebrating the timeless appeal of classic sailing: "This is the second time I have taken part in the Argentario Sailing Week. Argentario is a great place for sailing. I was already here two years ago aboard Spartan and I love racing in this gulf. The boat was here for the first time about six years ago and the crew say that Argentario is their favourite place. Every place you sail is different. Vive la différence! I have been to a lot of perfect places in the world, and this is definitely one of them. And today we won again. The boat is doing well. The wind was a little different from yesterday in its nuances, but the whole crew did a great job and Spartan was at her best."

The Argentario Sailing Week: a story of passion, tradition and success
The history of the Argentario Sailing Week begins in 1992, when a group of members of the Yacht Club Santo Stefano organised a regatta for classic yachts called Le Vele d'Argento (The Silver Sails). Over the years, the constant increase in registered boats, the area's hospitality and consistently favourable weather conditions eventually contributed to the event becoming a central date on the international calendar of classic and vintage yacht regattas. In 1999 the event took on the name we know today: Argentario Sailing Week, confirming its role as a high-profile regatta and, at the same time, as a moment of refined culture and hospitality, where passion, history and craftsmanship come together on the Mediterranean, in the sublime setting of Monte Argentario.
