Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 wins European Yacht of the Year

by Mainsheet Media on 26 Jan 2011
Jeanneau SO409 Jeanneau France
The all new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 has just been awarded the prestigious European Yacht of the Year award at the opening weekend of the Dusseldorf Boat Show.

The SO409 won the category for ‘family cruisers’ which is judged by a panel of the editors and test managers of the leading yachting magazines in Europe. The panel assesses performance, comfort, construction quality, price-performance ratio, design and unique selling features. Other yachts nominated in this primary yachting category were the Bavaria Cruiser 45, the Beneteau Oceanis 58, the Comet 26, and the Hanse 445.

The SO409 has a totally new deck layout which is clean and simple. Sheets are led back to primary winches on both sides for ease of handling. The standard headsail is a 105% overlap, but there is also a factory self-tacking headsail option. Or for those who want to take it to another level, a performance 140% racing genoa is also available.

The new longer cockpit has a fold-down swim platform and a large folding cockpit table that lends itself to entertaining family and friends. Down below the rich interior with abundant hardwood trim highlights the traditional woodwork for which Jeanneau is known. Exceptional visibility and ventilation is achieved with an abundance of hull and opening ports and flush hatches.

Three layouts are available to suit any individual requirements and there is a choice of traditional teak and holly or light oak floorboards. A choice of high end contemporary upholstery options complements this modern design.

The first Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409 arrives in Australia in February. To be one of the first to see this award winning yacht contact your local dealer. Website
