February 24 – Ask the Experts

It's the middle of winter and your boat is safely tucked away. But your mind is already racing with plans for those spring commissioning projects. We've set up a group of experts on every phase of boat maintenance - sails, rigging, electrical, plumbing, engines, paint, etc. to get you started on the right path. So come with your questions, and enjoy free refreshments from Cisco Brewers. Admission is free for Museum members, $5 for all others.

March 24 – John Rousmaniere presents 'The Golden Pastime: Icons of Classic Yachting'

We are honored to host legendary sailor-writer John Rousmaniere, presenting his illustrated show 'The Golden Pastime: Icons of Classic Yachting' on March 24 at the Museum. The event is brought to you by Points East Magazine with the support of Cisco Brewers.

John has written 28 historical or instructional books and hundreds of articles about boats and other topics. His books include The Golden Pastime: A New History of Yachting; Fastnet, Force 10, about the deadly 1979 Fastnet Race storm (in which he sailed); After the Storm; In a Class by Herself (about the classic yawl BOLERO); and histories of the America’s Cup, the Newport Bermuda Race, and the New York, Fishers Island, and Shelter Island Yacht Clubs. He edited Olin Stephens’ autobiography, All This and Sailing, Too, and has written the scripts of several of Gary Jobson’s shows. Admission is free for Museum members, $5 for all others.

April 21 – Maynard Bray and Benjamin Mendlowitz

The renowned team of Benjamin Mendlowitz and Maynard Bray present highlights and compelling images from their latest book, 'The Book of Wooden Boats', featuring Maynard's exceptional writing and Ben's dynamic and beautiful photographs.
