95 days to go til UK's Liverpool Boat Show

by Liverpool boat show on 24 Jan 2011
Liverpool - The Albert Dock. MIAA
As the launch of the inaugural Liverpool Boat Show, at historic Albert Dock, 29 April-8 May 2011, draws nearer, the city of Liverpool is fluttering with excitement, literally. The Liverpool Boat Show team, in association with Liverpool City Council, have hoisted advertising flags throughout the city. Hundreds of Liverpool Boat Show flags are fluttering amidst the city centre, with hundreds more along Liverpool's arterial route to increase awareness and boost excitement.

To promote the show in the capital, the event was showcased last week to almost 200 business leaders, MPs, city leaders and policy informers at the launch of the Liverpool Embassy in London.

The Liverpool Embassy, which opens in London on Friday, is being set up following the success of Liverpool’s presence at the World Expo in Shanghai last year, and will showcase the vision to continue to develop Liverpool as a business-friendly and innovative city to invest in.

The Liverpool Boat Show will host, amongst other things, a Shanty Festival, The Aqua-theatre and a big screen showing of the Royal Wedding which is taking place on the launch day – April 29.

On top of this the annual Liverpool Comedy Festival will be staging acts at the show site giving a traditional marine event an exciting festival twist. This sense of celebration and inclusion is boosted by the unique dual nature of visitors, from the 100,000 marine enthusiasts to the 300,000 people expected to come and explore free exhibits and sections of the show site across the 10 days.

The Liverpool Boat Show is buoyed by a complex compliment of exhibitors – from large power and sail brands, including Sunseeker, Beneteau and Seapro to dinghies, historic narrow boats and wake boarders.

Rob Mackenzie, Managing Director of the Liverpool Boat Show said: 'I've never experienced before the tremendous support we've had from local businesses and organisations. Coutts, Barclays Wealth, Grosvenor, Bentley, Boodles are a few of many sponsors, all of whom will be bringing their clients with them. The attitude to and excitement about the show from the city region mixed with the amazing location of the Liverpool docks is proving to be a winning combination.'
