RYA Sailability - A motley crew of pirates and well-wishers gathered at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show (Saturday 08 January) to celebrate the launch of RYA Sailability’s Pirate Day, which takes place this summer on 09 July.

RYA Clubs up and down the country will be helping raise funds for RYA Sailability by running pirate themed events such as raffles, BBQs, boat jumbles, treasure hunts and fun yacht races.

Pat Dodd, Chair of RYA Sailability commented: 'There are over 1500 RYA clubs and associations in the country and many of them ask me how they can help support Sailability. We thought we would make it easy for them and focus on a fun money-raising event for one day in the summer. RYA Sailability Pirate Day will be an annual event and we hope to inspire hundreds of RYA clubs to get involved.'

RYA Sailability is the charity that helps get disabled people sailing. There are over 150 Sailability Groups in the country, helping over 20,000 people sail every year. The charity helps train volunteers, provides grants for specialist equipment, supports national events and has recently launched Sailability TV to give advice and inspiration to clubs and disabled people.

RYA Sailability has produced special fundraising packs full of ideas and posters to help the clubs kick start their planning for 09 July. For more information about Pirate Day and how you can get involved contact Lorna Conder on 02380 604271 or email Website
