Edge-filling Cored Components made easy with Technifill R1170

Edge-filling of cored panels and components has always been a time-consuming, labour intensive process.

Technifill R1170, a new core-filling compound, formulated by ATL Composites, Australia, reduces the number of components required, and takes the guess-work out of how much filler needs to be added to achieve a suitable non-sagging consistency.

R1170 is a two-part, 1:1 mix ratio paste system which has the consistency of dough. It is easily mixed by (gloved) hand to form a stiff paste that is ideal for filling rebated edges on cored composite parts.

Once mixed and rolled into a sausage, the R1170 is simply pressed firmly into the core rebate and sprayed lightly with water, before compacting with a roller to produce a smooth, filled edge with no air voids.

More than 20% lighter than standard mixtures, and much easier to mix and apply, Technifill R1170 is ideal for any project that is weight sensitive or requires a large amount of edge-filling to be completed.

A short video of the mixing and application of Technifill R1170 can be viewed on our website.

A look at The Ocean Cleanup and its the 30 Cities Program The cliche goes that one should avoid meeting one's heroes, as there's always a chance that the flesh-and-blood person might not live up to expectations. While I've never met Boyan Slat, I'd gladly take this risk.
