Wooden Boat Festival has the second annual event, sponsored by the American Legion Post 291, the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum and the American Legion Yacht Club, scheduled Saturday, Oct. 2, at the American Legion at Balboa Blvd and 15th Street in Newport Beach.
Stars of the show are the brigantine Irving Johnson and the 85-foot P-520, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps crash boat. Even Hollywood will be represented with the yacht Cheerio II, formerly owned by Errol Flynn, joining Cathleen, a 50-foot motor sailor that once rescued its current owner, Phil Rowe, who in turn rescued her from the scrap yard-incredible story.
