by NeilPryde Baltic Cup News on 24 Aug 2010
Janis Preiss LAT 23 (Gaastra) - NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 Neil Pryde Baltic Cup http://www.event.extreme.ee/
NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 - The third event in Tallinn is over. There were 53 participants taking part of the biggest Formula event in the Baltics from Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 overall was won by Janis Preiss LAT 23 (Gaastra), for whom this was already the fifth overall win in the NeilPryde Baltic Cup series. Martin Ervin EST 202 (Starboard, NeilPryde) finished second. The third place went to Erno Kaasik EST 2 (Starboard, NeilPryde). These three were also the Tallinn`s event winners.

In the juniors (U-17) rankings Rytis Jasiunas (LTU 799) won both the Tallinn event and the overall NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010. Youth (U-20) ranking Tallinn event was won by Andrius Sliuburys (LTU 153) and the overall NeilPryde Baltic Cup Youth Champion was John Kaju (EST 24).

In the women's ranking Latvia took first places – Tallinn event was won by Marta Ozola (LAT 95) and the overall winner was Marta Luize Avercenko (LAT 5).

NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 - second day
The second day of the NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 final event in Tallinn started with unexpected wind conditions. Although the forecast for today`s competition was more than suitable - 8-9 m/s from southwest, the long-awaited wind did not come.

The day started as planned with 12 o'clock skipper's meeting. The expectations of the competitors were high, not only because of the great forecast but also because they were getting anxious to get started with races. After the skippers, AP flag was raised and the starts were postponed every hour. Shortly before the evening the wind was getting stronger and there was hope for a start, but the rain clouds destroyed that little hope as well as wind. At 18.57 the judge ended the long waiting for today.

52 competitors from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Poland and Estonia have only one day left to find out who is the best formula windsurfer at NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010. Before the final day there is only one point separating the leaders. For sure it will be interesting to see the competition between the fresh Nordic champion Martin Ervin EST 202 (Starboard/NeilPryde) and 4 times winner of NeilPryde Baltic Cup Janis Preiss LAT 23 (Gaastra).

NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 - first day
NeilPryde Baltic Cup 2010 final event in Tallinn started with no wind.

The weather forecast for Friday morning was not good – 0-2 m/s. Better wind conditions were predicted for the afternoon. Unfortunately, the conditions stayed unchanged, so no races were held and the windsurfers from Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Poland and Estonia just enjoyed the sunny Estonian weather and got prepared for the next 2 days.
