Trilogy sails in the fast lane

by Ian Grant on 12 Aug 2002
Keith Glover and his crew sailing on Trilogy's spray drenched trampoline have power sailed into a comfortable lead in the Hog's Breath Race Week Multihull class championship.

Besides provisionally winning all three races on corrected handicap the speed sailing Trimaran has also claimed the title as the fastest yacht in the 107-boat fleet and has claimed a new race record.

Skipper Glover who steers the wave jumping and white water spray-producing trimaran while standing on the windward hull has easily produced faster course times than Aftershock over the same courses.

Trilogy's much higher power to weight ratio has provided the base platform while skipper Glover and his key crew mate Ben Kelly of Southport has turned a fast trimaran into a very fast racing yacht.

Their match racing with the Brisbane to Gladstone race winner Flat Chat now manned with a different crew and a new name of Emultihulls has forced them to reach for a new speed sailing performance.

This has forced the exciting Trilogy to sail on a faster line resulting in her two to one class line honours over Emultihulls while claiming a firm grip on the fastest yacht at the regatta title.

Trilogy in her three races sailed over identical courses has a total aggregate elapsed time of 4 hours 3minutes 4 seconds compared with Aftershock 4-46-22.
