Win an Opti for the Kids and One for the Club

by Sail-World.com & Powerboat-world.com on 24 May 2010
SW
Sail-World.com is proud to announce that in conjunction with Steven Bond's OziOpti - you can now Win an Opti for the Kids and One for the Club!!

The little snub nosed Optimist is the largest junior class in the world, they are now sailed in 110 countries, with 150,000 active competitors. Its the fastest growing class in the Asia-Pacific. Australia now has 800 plus boats and its sailed in every State. New Zealand is well ahead with over 4,000 boats and the much smaller sailing community in Singapore has 800.

Whereas in New Zealand most sailing clubs have Optimists, this is not the case in Australia, where only around five percent of the clubs have junior programs with Optimists, so there is enormous potential to increase the numbers of sailors coming through the ranks.

The winner of the OziOPti Sail-World competition will receive an OziOpti ‘Regatta Mark IV’ GRP racing boat complete valued at AUD$3,950 (or NZ$5,135).

AND

They will ALSO win for their chosen sailing club an OziOpti ‘Tacker’ Poly training boat valued at AUD$2,395 (or NZ$3,200).

There will also be additional prizes of 10 (ten) $100 ‘The Boatyard’ on-line shop Enter now

Steven Bond said today 'There has already been a flood of entries in the first 24 hours and there will no doubt be thousands of entries as families with budding sailors discover the competition.

'For us the most important thing about this promotion is the feed back from the 23 question online survey, that is part of the competition, we are getting to know about what sailing families want. This is going to help us immeasurably in working with Clubs to help grow junior sailing.'

OziOpti was established with the goal of introducing more kids to sailing and bringing sailing back to basics with these primary objectives;

•Make sailing more affordable.

•Provide a ‘level playing field’ through a One-design dinghy.

•Supply a product of world class standard.

•Promote interclub, interstate and international competition.

•Work with sailing clubs to increase participation.

•But above all else - Get kids in boats.

OziOpti supplies International Optimist Dinghies for racing and the OziOpti Poly for training.

The OziOpti is available in two models, the ‘Club’ Opti is perfect if you’re new to sailing or continuing on just for fun, the hull is identical to the Regatta model we’ve just kept the equipment at a more modest level to make your initial purchase in line with the introduction to sailing, it is easy to upgrade the spars, foils and sails when extra performance is due, or go straight to our ‘Regatta’ Opti which is specified to World Championship standards with the best spars, foils, sails, blocks and fittings all at the best prices.

The OziOpti 'Poly’ is based on the Optimist but slightly larger to accommodate more than one kid and is more durable , made from single layer polyethylene, a material and construction method which is much stronger than conventional fiberglass and multi-layer polyethylene, it means almost zero maintenance for clubs.
