Raymarine previews glass bridge monitors at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show

by Raymarine on 22 May 2010
Stylish and highly functional, the glass bridge monitor suits the requirements of vessels over 40 feet. Raymarine Asia www.raymarine.com
Combining the latest advanced technology in an ultra-stylish, edge-to-edge black glass screen, Raymarine’s new glass bridge systems are aimed at meeting the highly demanding operational and interior design requirements for vessels over 40 feet.

Available in two sizes – the GB150 (15”) and GB170 (17”) these large, ultra-bright sunlight viewable colour displays use LED technology to offer multiple display combinations for every navigational scenario. And the ultra-sophisticated styling will please even the most discerning owner or Captain.

With the ability to be low profile mounted without requiring a bezel, installing the GB150 and GB170 results in a larger viewing area than some other traditional 15 or 17 inch screens.

With no visible buttons - resulting in a completely smooth surface finish - Raymarine’s new glass bridge monitors are remotely controlled using the G-Series keyboard. With Raymarine already renowned for its intuitive operation, the glass bridge monitors have an in-built On-Screen Display menu ensuring users can easily access all the many features and functions available. This includes ‘Picture In Picture’ mode, which gives the ability to re-size and re-position the second image or data window.

A key advantage of the glass bridge monitors is the unrivalled video input selection, including three VGA, two DVI, three composite video and one S-video. Each video input can be named, enabling easy accessibility to the required data input. Operating the glass bridge monitors from the G-Series keyboard is quick and accurate, thanks to Raymarine’s SeaTalkhs Ethernet communication port.

While stylish looks, functionality and easy operation are all important, Raymarine’s glass bridge monitors offer the ultimate in clear, crisp visibility at all times. Incorporating the very latest pixel technology, even the most detailed data is easy to read, whatever the external or ambient light conditions. This is enhanced thanks to the anti-reflective glass filter used on the screen, which reduces reflection and optimizes visibility.

The GB150 and GB170 are designed to have 150 degree viewing angle biased towards 6 o’clock (bottom up) which ensures the optimum colour rendition. LED backlighting provides the best screen visibility in all lighting conditions including direct tropical sun. At night, the screen can be dimmed to red or even taken to total black to ensure optimum viewing comfort and minimum disruption to night vision.

The GB150 and GB170 are designed to be long-lasting and rugged. The aluminium chassis provides superior strength and durability. The glass is bonded to the LCD which helps improve contrast, minimise reflections and prevent condensation. The glass bridge screens are rated to IPX-6, which means they can be exterior mounted if required.
