In an age where big really is better and size does matter Bay Port Yachting Centre sets the standard as an industry leader again, unveiling its brand new 75 ton Marine Travelift this week.

Bay Port's Operations Manager Scott Cain said, 'It is the largest lift on freshwater in Canada.' The behemoth mobile boat hoist easily handles the longer, heavier and wider boats, now becoming an industry norm in the recreational boating business.

Marine Travelift revolutionized the industry almost 50 years ago, providing an innovative way to efficiently maneuver boats into and out of the water and around marinas with less stress on the hull structure. Today's engineering marvels take full advantage of those five decades of knowledge and expertise and that's why our marina considered no other product than the superior Travelift. 'This is the only mobile marine hoist that can handle the diverse demands of the job reliably and efficiently. It's what Bay Port boaters have come to expect and what we always deliver.'

He said the Travelift is a $300,000 investment not only in the marina, but in the surrounding community as well. 'We're investing in the future of Midland and the entire Southern Georgian Bay community.' The number of larger sized vessels traveling the inland waterways has increased in recent years, 'Bay Port has taken the approach of being prepared for them. Our long term goal is to have Bay Port host these bigger boats that are now on Southern Georgian Bay.'

The bigger boats will create more jobs and Bay Port is fully prepared for the future. The substantial investment is already paying off. 'We have bookings from boaters bringing their vessels from the United States now that we have the lift to accommodate them,' Cain said. 'We're really excited by the Travelift and what it means for our future.'

Bay Port is part of the family of Parkbridge Marinas. Parkbridge is Canada's largest lifestyle community company and is dedicated to providing the finest facilities for boaters. The 75 ton Travelift is part of on-going investment in this Georgian Bay marina. This year Bay Port will expand its popular climate-controlled indoor drystack storage system, increasing the building's capacity to 200 vessels. That's in addition to the Bay Port's 500 traditional wet slips for vessels up to 100 feet in length. 'We're easily able to accommodate the wave of boaters moving northward,' Cain said. 'Our drystack facility is increasingly popular as more people move from the south and become day boaters.'

Bay Port Yachting Centre is on the web at www.bayportyc.com and on land at 156 Marina Park Ave., in Midland.
