Lori Mason and Katrina Lewis team up to present a 'Boating Safety Refresher Course' on June 1 on the lawn of Port Credit Yacht Club starting promptly at 7:30pm.
Man-overboard procedures will be gone over in depth, including manoeuvring your vessel back to the boater AND getting them back in the boat. Flares - which ones are required; PFDs - the pros and cons of inflatables and foam; and safety toss devises will all be covered. In fact, they are planning practice sessions for tossing lifelines so bring your equipment along so you can join in.
Lori Mason is owner of The Store-Mason's Chandlery in Port Credit Harbour Marina - thestoremasons.com. She has been doing safety seminars since 1985. She recently founded WOW - Women on the Water, an association that promotes women in boating.
Katrina Lewis is the instructor at the Learn to Sail Program at Port Credit Yacht Club. She is owner of OpenWaters.ca leading sailing charters in the Caribbean & Mediterranean.
