J/24 European Championship overall

The J/24 European Championship, was sailed on Souda Bay in Crete. Twenty eight crews competed in the series held from October 24 to October 30 2009.

The weather did not co-operate throughout the Championship, with only two days of racing possible. Two days were cancelled due to lack of wind and rain storms.

Alexandros Tagaropoulos on the helm of Hellenic Police with and his crew Nikos Papazoglou, Dimitris Kokoris, Periklis Aidinis, Nikos Mavros, Antonis Karagiannis, John Fakas and Marina Tsiligiri won the championship title, from the German boat Gunni, skippered by Matthias Garzmann. The British crew on Inmarsat with Ian Southworth as skipper, finished in third place.

The fleet comprised entries from six European countries; Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Hungary, United Kingdom and Greece.
