Wellington College Enjoying a fine day on Wellington Harbour - College Sport Wellington Match Racing Champs RPNYC Events
After a jam-packed day of racing on Wellingtons inner Harbour, Wellington College came out on top of six other schools from around Wellington. Wellington College dominated the competition by winning every race.
With the traditional spring winds seemingly arriving early, the first day of racing was called off and day two didn’t look any better. However with an early start and no kites, two round robins and the semi finals were fired off without a hitch. After the prelimiary rounds Scots College skippered by Adam Middleton came up against Josh Porebski from Wellington College in the best of three final. Although Scots fought hard Wellington College’s more experienced team won both matches and the regatta.
In the petite final Hutt International Boys School won two straight matches over the vastly improved Wellington High School team. The fifth and sixth sail off was won by Aotea College over the Wellington Girls team who were the most improved over the regatta.
A big thanks to the volunteers and the umpires for there time during the regatta.
