Yanmar appoints experienced Diesel Man to NSW Post

by Bob Carter on 22 Jun 2009
Ian Mills, appointed to the position of NSW State Manager – Marine Bob Carter
Power Equipment has announced the appointment of Ian Mills to the position of NSW State Manager – Marine. Ian who has achieved an impressive track record with diesel engines, replaces Mike Egan who has entered retirement.

Prior to accepting his new position, Ian Mills worked as a Project Manager/Mechanical Engineer with a NSW based company that specialised in the supply and support of diesel engines in the mining, shipping and industrial applications.

'The Yanmar brand has the finest reputation in the diesel engine industry,' Ian Mills said upon his appointment at Power Equipment, the authorised distributor of Yanmar engines.

'When you are operating outside of the Yanmar family, you view the brand as the iconic product that someday you would love to represent. Yanmar is a highly respected brand and I’m delighted to now be playing a role in the Yanmar family.'

In his new position, Ian Mills has a broad role that involves sales support, dealer support, liaison with shipyards and an involvement with naval architects to ensure that appropriate Yanmar engines are used to power new and vessels undergoing repower.

'I am fortunate that I have experience in project engineering, sales and project management,' Ian said. 'I’m very much looking forward to working with our current and future Yanmar customers throughout NSW to assist them with engine selection, design work and drafting in both the marine and industrial areas.'

According to Michael Blair, the National Marine Sales manager for Power Equipment, appointing Ian Mills with his experience and knowledge will insure the future growth and development of Yanmar in the NSW marine market.

'We regard Ian as being a very knowledgeable and capable individual in the diesel industry,' Michael said.

'While we are sad to see Mike Egan leave Power Equipment and enter retirement, Ian is an ideal replacement, a man who can continue on with the excellent network of Yanmar customers that exist in NSW.'

After working with the Yanmar brand for 16 years, Mike Egan leaves the NSW position in great shape. Yanmar has for some time been the dominant brand in this market, and much of the credit is due to Mike’s outstanding effort. All at Power Equipment wish Mike the very best for a long and healthy retirement.

Power Equipment is the exclusive and authorised Australian, PNG and South Pacific distributor of Yanmar Marine and Industrial diesel engines importing product from Yanmar plants in Japan, Asia, USA and Europe. With an extensive marine dealer and branch network, Power Equipment has the expertise and experience to assist boat owners and boat builders for both new installations and repowers. Power Equipment also distribute the Yanmar powered MASE diesel marine generators range and Gori high quality folding sailboat propellers.
