The world leading real-time graphics company Animation Research Ltd, have announced that their Virtual Eye system used for the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series is now available worldwide for individual download.
The download can be accessed at www.lvps09.com and clicking on the 'Download Now' icon on the bottom of the homepage.
You will require a reasonable standard computer and be able to run Microsoft's Silverlight product (free download). The system is available worldwide, and clearly is the future of television coverage of yachting.
Once set up you will be able to review all the racing to date in the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series, plus the Finals matches to come.
Each day, about one hour after racing has been completed, the new data will be uploaded - and once you repeat the download you should have the latest racing.
At Sail-World we have been using a version of the player to both review racing and generate graphics. It is an outstanding tool for understanding and enjoying sailing. Once the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series is complete, there is no need to go online and the racing can be viewed anywhere.
The viewer has some variable cameras - a total of seven positions so you can get the best view of the racing action. A control panel shows individual boatspeed, plus the lateral and forward separations can be turn on an off at will.
