Honda’s year away to a stunning start

No doubt the folks at Honda are till celebrating the company’s Accord Euro being named Australia’s Car of the Year by Wheels magazine, but the Honda Marine division is upping the ante with a more models in the superb range of AquaTrax personal watercraft.

It would seem that 2009 is already a year to remember for Honda Australia.

Latest addition to the already impressive PWC range offered by the company is the ARX1500, a turbo charged unit guaranteed to translate to sheer fun on the water.

The ARX 1500 boasts a 1470cc four-stroke engine and an all-new hull design that Honda claims will deliver a superior ride, a better contact with the water surface and more splash protection than previous models.

Engine design ensures low emissions and excellent fuel consumption, far in advance of that obtained from two-stroke power plants.

Waterproof instrumentation include a digital LCD readout for speed, distance covered, travel time, clock and engine hours. An LCD analogue bar-graph display for engine speed and fuel level allows the ‘skipper’ to judge remaining minutes left to ride.

There is also a flashing indicator light and an audible alarm for fuel level, battery charge, coolant temperature, oil pressure and fuel injection.

This stylish three-seater is available in two versions; the standard and the upgraded GPScape.

The GPScape includes the latest navigation system and it is incorporated into the instrument panel with the capability of storing up to 100 waypoints. It also has a digital compass.

With a retail price of $22,990 for the standard model and only $1000 extra for the GPScape, the AquaTrax ARX1500 will prove a tough ‘cookie’ for the opposition.
