Harbour precinct the jewel in the Malaysian crown

by Jeni Bone on 24 Dec 2008
Servicing Malaysia and Singapore, Puteri Harbour will eventually accommodate 300 vessels. SW
The US$11bn development of Iskander Malaysia (IM), comprising seven signature developments – among them the Puteri Harbour Waterfront Development – will be one of the largest projects in South East Asia.

Development of IM is part of the Malaysian Government’s 4-year plan (2006-2010), working in tandem with the private sector, to drive reforms and innovation.

This special economic zone is strategically located at the south-western tip of Peninsular Malaysia and is poised to be the premier and largest fully integrated urban development in South East Asia offering significant investment, financial and business opportunities for local, regional and international entrepreneurs and investors.

Known as Nusajaya, with its 24,000 acres of contiguous development-ready land, the seven precincts include the Johor State New Administrative Centre (JSNAC), the Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters (SiLC), Puteri Harbour Waterfront Development, EduCity, Medical Hub, International Destination Resort and Nusajaya Residences, all within a city that sets the benchmark for integrated developments across the globe.

Puteri Harbour will be a main feature, with three marinas and sea-facing villas. Scheduled for completion in March 2009 the marinas will eventually be able to accommodate up to 300 berths and will offer first class facitiles including marina berthing, chandlery, shopping, food and beverage outlets and accommodation facilities for boaters, yachties, yacht charter and watersports operators.

Puteri Harbour Phase 1 will provide 80 berths with plenty of space between the fingers for ease of use by the boat owner.
Phase 2 will provide berthing for up to 10 superyachts whilst Phase 3 will be a private marina with around 140 berths and Phase 4 will be residential waterfront berthing.

There will also be a ferry terminal and a full Malaysian Customs, Immigration, Quarantine and Port Clearance centre.

The advanced design is manufactured and installed by Structurmarine Amarco Inc. of Montreal, Quebec, Canada with the docks being secured by heavy concrete anchors, rather than pilings, giving the structure a sleek, contemporary appearance.

At the moment the marina basin is separated from the Straits of Johor but it is expected that the seaway will be opened sometime before the end of March 2009 which is when the marina operations are due to commence.

Puteri Harbour is the jewel of Nusajaya. This waterfront precinct, styled on the French Riviera, is an integrated waterfront and marina development that spans 688 acres offering a panoramic view of the Straits of Johor.

Puteri Harbour redefines luxury living and offers boundless real estate benefits to the astute investor. Located adjacent to the Johor State New Administrative Centre (JSNAC), Puteri Harbour will be a unique luxurious lifestyle community, offering the experience of exceptional waterfront living, dining, entertainment, the arts and culture in a safe and picture postcard natural setting.

Officials say RM40.25 billion (US$11 billion) worth of investments have been committed for Iskandar - nearly half from private sector funds.
