Anyone on the way to the King’s Cup in Phuket, Thailand, in the next day or so is probably aware that there are some transportation problems in the area. If you are heading for Phuket with a transit in Bangkok, there could be delays.
To let everyone get there in time for the start of racing, there is a programme change. Simon James, Race Director, called this us afternoon with the following:
'Sunday will be registration, measuring etc, and the Opening Ceremony will take place on schedule. Monday will be a practice race, and then the racing programme will run from Tuesday to Saturday with no lay day on Thursday.'
'We are concerned that anyone who thinks that they can’t get there for the first race may consider cancelling altogether, so here’s a day’s leeway. We are well aware that some competitors are going to have difficulty getting here on time, and hope this will go some way to solving the problem.'
'Apart from that, the King’s Cup is all set and ready to go. We look forward to welcoming you all to Phuket. See you on the start line on TUESDAY!'
