USA's Jay Price set for U.I.M. World Championship

The U.I.M. F1 World Championship is on the doorstep of crowning their most unlikely of champions as the 2008 season moves on to the Middle East and the United Arab Emirates in three weeks time.

American Jay Price the lead driver from the Qatar Team comes to the lovely downtown setting of Abu Dhabi for the series seventh race of the championship with a 36 point advantage with only 40 points still available in the title chase. The driver from New Orleans, Louisiana arrived on the scene full time just two seasons ago in 2006 and now has just 20 races in F1 in his resume since arriving from F2000.

So, what does this mean? It shows that Jay Price, the 'Ragin Cagin', a seven time Cuban Champion and five times Mexican Champion, is the fastest climbing star in the history of the sport. The numbers prove this out.

In 20 starts and 16 race finishes since his first event back in Abu Dhabi in 2002, Jay has reached the podium 50% of the time.

Currently he's on a streak of six straight that goes back to the final event of 2007 at the Grand Prix of Sharjah a year ago. 'The Streak' includes two wins this season at the Grand Prix of Portugal and the Grand Prix of China in Liuzhou while finishing no lower than second place.

Despite personal tragedies and hardships that he has been dealt with since his introduction to the series back in 2002, he has to be relishing the thought that now he has one hand on the World Championship trophy and with the help of the Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF) should be ready to celebrate the teams success before the sun sets on the Arabic Sea in early December.

Meanwhile, for another driver, it's just great to be back on the U.I.M. F1 tour. German driver Fabian Kalsow will join the 800 Doctor Team and will be partners with talented Italian Fabio Comparato for the final two races of the season in Abu Dhabi on the fifth of December and Sharjah December 12th.

Fabian joined the circuit back in 2005 and was a member of the Tamoil Team. He has nine career starts and a respectable number of five top-10 finishes including a pair of career best eighth place finishes. He is scheduled to drive a BABA hull that boat builder and driver Massimo Roggiero has raced in the past year.

Talented Team Abu Dhabi pilot Ahmad Al Hameli spent the first weekend of November racing in America for his first time on the F1-ChampBoat tour driving for Greg Jacobson and Ron Anderson in their development program of the OMC-Johnson 3.3 litre engine. In the featured race, Ahmad dropped out early after qualifying a respectable seventh fastest on Saturday afternoon in ex-World Champion Scott Gillman's old 2004 DAC boat.
