Cigarette goes diesel

Cigarette Racing Team’s 49 Grand Sport Diesel at play off Miami. SW
Gasoline engines and the Cigarette Racing Team’s fabulous creations have long gone hand in hand.

However, as the old saying goes, nothing stays the same and the awesome 49’ Grand Sport with diesel power will be unveiled at this year’s Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (October 30 – November 3).

This powerhouse performance rig was launched to the public at last year’s Fort Lauderdale exhibition, with a pair of Mercury Racing’s 700 SCi engines and NXT1 drives.

Now, Cigarette Racing Team says the all-new 49 Grand Sport Diesel takes the boat to the next level of performance and luxury.

This somewhat revolutionary Cigarette is powered by dual Cummins 600 horsepower engines.

They are combined with high-performance stern drives protected with Mercury Marine’s ECP (Enhanced Corrosion Protection) to provide longevity and durability in the harsh salt water environment.

Cigarette Racing Team, combined with Mercury Racing and Cummins MerCruiser spent 18 months developing and testing the engines for the 49 Grand Sport Diesel.

The diesel engines offer improved economy, a superior engine life span and lower maintenance than equivalent gasoline engines.

High-tech two-speed transmission projects both acceleration and top end speed, leading to an all-round superior level of on-water performance.

While the 49 Grand Sport Diesel may well qualify as ‘robust’, it continues to feature the luxurious amenities for which Cigarette Racing Team is renowned.

Ultra leather upholstery and honeycomb cabinetry in cockpit and cabin exhibits both modern and luxurious European styling.

Ample cockpit space and more than 1.8-metres of headroom throughout the interior, which includes a fully-enclosed head with sink, shower and Vac-U flush toilet.

Integrated swim platform, bow windlass for easy anchoring and a standard bow thruster for simple manoeuvrability into and out of marina berths.

The full wrap-around acrylic windscreen offers total durability, even at high speed.

There’s also a built-in underwater exhaust system to aid in passenger comfort and a state-of-the-art navigation system with full instrumentation duplicated on the passenger side.

Cigarette Racing Team, now headquartered in a new production facility north of Miami, Florida, continues to go from strength to strength.

After all, one does not become a legendary name unless it produces legendary products.
