Ideal northern wind that was sometimes stronger than 22 knots made interesting duels in the regattas field bellow Sustipan possible from day one on the 22nd ACI Match Race Cup. Excellent coordination of the regatta committee and the sailors arranged eight series that were held from the first round robin, which was more than planned.

Sebastian Col representing France has managed to endorse speculations about him as a favorite from day one. He was unmerciful in his race captivating eight victories. Paolo Cian has had only one victory less, recalling last year’s winner that only lost one race from Col.

Afterwards, there are two skippers each having six points, Torvar Mirsky and Bertrand Pace. This means that at this moment the four crews managed to maintain fourth places which carry fights for the winners. Our Tomislav Bašic had four victories as well as Adam Minoprio from New Zealand. Dario Kliba took seventh place with three victories, while Barbieri and Tarnacki won only one race and are ahead of Musikhin from Russia who did not succeed in winning a single race.

On how attention-grabbing and uncertain the race was today, we can recall the duel in the last series when Col won only two seconds ahead and took the regatta from the talented Mirsky from Australia.

The competition will continue tomorrow all through the wind that won’t be as strong as it was today, but will be favorable as the weather-forecast announces a northwest wind with a velocity of 16 knots.
