The ticker tape is barely settled on the streets of Beijing and planning is well and truly underway for the Beijing International Boat & Marina Development Show, November 20 - 22.

The Beijing International Boat & Marina Development Show is part of the Informa group, the world's largest publicly owned organiser of exhibitions, conferences and training courses.

Some of Informa's events include the Monaco Yacht Show, Abu Dhabi Yacht Show and Super Yacht Cup Racing Series.

The Beijing International Boat & Marina Development Show is supported by CCYIA (China Cruise & Yacht Industry Association). IIR Exhibitions, organiser of the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, is part of Informa PLC, which also owns the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show and the Super Yacht Cup Racing Series.

China is one of the world’s most promising markets for boat building and equipment sourcing. With a GDP of US$ 10.17 trillion (2006 est.), Chinese boat and marina market is set for exponential growth. Market facts suggest that China is currently the world’s third largest market for big ticket items including boats. Annual sales for these items are 10% of world’s market worth approximately US$ 2 billion.

The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing transformed the city’s infrastructure to accommodate the needs of thousands of visitors and sports enthusiasts. Beijing is already considered one of the most developed cities in the world and significant marina development is planned for all regions of China.

In 2006, Beijing witnessed a 12% year-on-year growth with a GDP of approximately US$ 97 billion. Per capita income for urban and rural residents increased by 12.9% and 9.6% respectively. Beijing and its surrounding provinces are home to a growing number of high net-worth individuals.

The venue will be the New China International Exhibition Centre (NCIEC) in Beijing, a brand new exhibition centre opening late 2008. Located to the North-East of the city, the NCIEC is only 1.5km away from Beijing Capital Airport and less than 25km from the city centre.

The first construction phase of this vast development will include 8 pillar and column-free exhibition halls with 100,000 square meters of exhibition area, and will also include parking spaces for almost 3,700 cars, a hotel, office space and other business facilities.

The New CIEC will not only be the most advanced exhibition hall in China, but will also, technologically, meet and surpass some of the world's leading exhibition venues. It is destined to become the perfect location for future international-oriented events, hosting large world-class expositions and professional trade events, and simultaneously providing clients and visitors with first-class business facilities and access to arguably the East’s most culturally-rich city.
