Sydney company, Incat Crowther has been commissioned to develop a new high speed catamaran motor yacht for an international businessman. The vessel will be capable of cruising at 25 knots and will have long range capabilities in excess of 3500nm.

The vessel will be built at the West Australian shipyard of Sabre Catamarans, who have a strong history in the construction of high speed aluminium catamarans. The vessel owner was attracted to Incat Crowther by the recent success of the MY Seafaris.

The new catamaran will be 37.50m in length, and with a 10.30m beam will provide plenty of large open deck space on a vessel that will be designed for long range cruising.

The vessel will be powered by a pair of MTU 12V4000 M71 main engines driving fixed pitch propellers through a reverse/reduction ZF gearbox. The main running gear will be protected by an integrated skeg providing protection from grounding and other potential hazards.

The interior of the vessel will be designed for entertaining and will feature an open plan lounge and dining area with large panoramic windows out the sides and looking aft.

The main guest cabins are located forward and are accessed from a central entrance foyer complete with cloak room and guest bathroom facilities. Each guest cabin is fitted with two king sized single beds that can be quickly rearranged into a king sized double bed. In addition there are large wardrobes complete with baggage storage, large ensuite facilities and all cabins will feature the latest entertainment systems. A small gymnasium is located forward with direct access to the foredeck.

The mid deck will feature a full width owner’s cabin with ensuite, walk in wardrobe, office, sitting room and direct access to a large private balcony. An extra guest cabin and captain’s cabin are positioned aft of an open wheelhouse which has been specifically designed for superior sightseeing with large vertical windows and comfortable guest seating.

A Portuguese style foredeck has been incorporated into the design complete with forward facing lounges for a thrill ride or evening drinks as the sun sets over the horizon while sitting at anchor.

A large fly bridge deck incorporates seating, a BBQ area and plenty of open space for relaxation.

Based in Sydney, Incat Crowther is the product of the merging of two great names, Incat Designs Sydney and Crowther Design. These two companies boast the experience of over 50 years of marine design history. Nearly 300 vessels have been built to Incat and Crowther designs.

Incat Designs Sydney, with Phil Hercus at the helm, built an industry leading design firm that has produced over 170 boats for worldwide service. Many of these designs were industry firsts, including the revolutionary Wave Piercing Catamaran.

Crowther Design has its roots back to Lock Crowther, who was a pioneer in applying proven catamaran sailing design technology to high-speed catamaran ferries and work boats. Derivatives of his bulbous bow catamaran hull form are now used extensively in the industry. In modern times, Crowther Design has become well known for its large range of successful commercial vessel which number in excess of 130.

The company’s vessels range from large high-speed offshore catamaran ferries through to all types of work boats, charter vessels, recreational power craft and sailing leisure craft and its expertise covers the full spectrum of applications, including passenger ferries, work boats and yachts.

It has experience in all manner of hull forms, including monohull, catamaran and wave piercers. This vast experience extends to our knowledge of construction materials (including aluminium, steel and GRP) and our expert knowledge of propulsion (including sail, power and solar).
