Blackwash in OK Dinghy Pre-worlds at Warnemunde

The Kiwi Hamburg-Sud team at the 71st Warnemunde Woche, the pre event for the 2008 OK Dinghy World Championship, dominated the event, winning six of the seven races and finishing with five boats in the top six; the prize- ceremony was saw three black shirts on the podium.

The racing started with three races with winds up to 20 knots and big waves.

Mark Perrow of Wakatere BC carried on from his successes last year by winning the first race and then Karl Purdie of Worser Bay won the next 2 races in the increasing wind.

For Day 2 the wind eased to 10 -12 knots with Luke O’Connell of Napier winning the race four with Trent Pryce in hot pursuit, and Alistair Deaves of Wakatere BC winning Race 6.

The last race of the series was sailed in very light conditions and was also the Invitaion Race for the Worlds. O’Connell led all the race to take the race with a good lead followed by Deaves.
