Sanctuary Show Draws Interest to AIMEX members

The 20th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show drew international buyers which brought significant results for members of the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX).

The peak body which represents leading Australian marine exporters supported the International Business Lounge along with Austrade, the Queensland Government, Gold Coast City Council and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The 20th Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show ran from May 22 to 25, 2008.

AIMEX Chief Executive Mary Anne Edwards said that more than 40 international buyers visited the centre from Taiwan, China, United Arab Emirates, India, Malaysia and Thailand.

'We were delighted to be involved in the facility which held two key networking happy hours attended by AIMEX members and key industry stakeholders,' said Ms Edwards.

'There was a steady stream of visitors and our members found it an excellent opportunity to meet international buyers and hold business meetings.' The facility was located at Jabiru House, Sanctuary Cove in a central location within the Boat Show precinct.

Ms Edwards said Austrade representatives attended from around the world and within Australia including China, Thailand, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.

'The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show was also very successful for our members,' said Ms Edwards.

'AIMEX members including Riviera and Maritimo to name a few recorded successful sales.'

Attendance at leading international boat shows is just one marketing element of the AIMEX group. Other marketing activities include an informative website (www.aimex.asn.au) and regular updates on the industry with Exporter magazine.

The group is attending the Korea International Boat Show in June and will attend IBEX in the US and METS late in 2008.
