Abracadabra wins Young 88 Nationals

by RNZYS Media and Sail-World on 13 Apr 2008

Abrcadabra helmed by Andrew Wills won a shortened Young 88 Nationals organised by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.

27 boats entered the series, in which five races were completed on Saturday. There was no racing possible on Sunday because of strong winds.

Racing was very close - a little too close at times with three boats being forced to retire with damage but there was no crew injuries.

It was a windy day out in the Hauraki Gulf, on Saturday, with a strong 15 - 20 knot easterly, with some big fun waves.

Second overall is last year's winner Triple 8 helmed by owner Roger Pagani, Wakahuia was third and Panama Jack fourth overall.
