Chicago's Columbia YC will offer IRC sections in their 13th annual spring event, The COLORS Ragatta on June 6-7, 2008.

The COLORS Regatta has evolved from an IMS to ONE-DESIGN to ONE-D/PHRF to ONE-D/PHRF/IRC in 13 short years. All offshore classes are welcome and need only enter three boats to make a section.

Initially designed as a warm-up to Chicago's NOOD regatta, the COLORS Regatta is now a stand alone event attracting as many as 72 boats for the two day/six race event. 'At first we were just trying to serve a small group of racers who didn't want to do the Michigan City port-to-port races and it just grew into a major event', says JT past regatta chair. This year the Chicago to Michigan City Distance Race is scheduled the week before the COLORS Regatta.

Some of the classes of yachts racing include Farr 40, J-105, Beneteau 36.7-40.7, Sydney 38, Flying Tiger 10 M, in ONE-D, PHRF, IRC sections

The schedule of events includes parties Friday, Saturday and Sunday with beer included for the whole crew and a meal on Saturday night with FREE dockage at Columbia for the event. Intentionally the weekend before the Chicago NOOD Regatta, the COLORS Regatta conveniently allows boats not local to Chicago participation in both regattas with one trip to Chicago.

NOR for the COLORS Regatta June 6-7, 2008
The IRC coordinator is Ike Scott who can be reached at ike@thinkvisual.com . He will be able to answer any questions or send you the NOR which is also available at www.colyc.com.
